Job Summary

We are seeking a Managing Director to spearhead our operations, driving business growth and ensuring operational excellence across our team. This role is ideal for someone with a robust background in technology consulting (preferably Salesforce or AWS), who is adept at leading project teams, and excels in a client-facing capacity. As Managing Director, you will report directly to the Founder and have substantial autonomy in setting strategic goals and executing business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational strategy and execution, ensuring alignment with the company’s business goals.
  • Manage relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Drive the expansion of business activities that boost Relay’s growth while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Oversee service delivery, quality assurance, and client engagements to ensure that all projects adhere to process, timeline, and budget constraints.
  • Manage our team and individual performance, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Founder to refine and implement strategic plans and respond to market opportunities and challenges.

Team Management

  • Resource Coordination: Ensure the availability of appropriate tools and team members to deliver projects successfully and efficiently.
  • Process Alignment: Standardize approaches to software development, as well as project management across teams, ensuring processes are well-documented and effectively implemented.
  • Communication and Morale: Set clear expectations, foster team spirit, and facilitate knowledge exchange. Enhance team performance through empathetic leadership, mentorship, and accountability.
  • Leadership and Development: Act as a direct line manager and mentor for the team. Hold regular one-on-one meetings to set individual goals and development plans, provide ongoing feedback, and handle onboarding and training needs.
  • Performance Management: Conduct annual performance reviews, and continuously monitor and improve the quality of team outputs.
  • Financial Oversight: Analyze team financial performance to inform staffing plans and ensure the profitability of projects.

Client Responsibilities

  • Client Portfolio Management: Take full responsibility for the client portfolio, ensuring robust health and growth of all client relationships and the quality of work produced.
  • C-Suite Engagement: Serve as the lead contact for key client accounts, establishing trusted advisory relationships with senior C-suite executives.
  • Communication Expertise: Demonstrate superior communication skills with clients and colleagues. Provide clear and convincing presentations, anticipate client questions and feedback, and prepare proactive solutions and responses.
  • Strategic Client Leadership: Use insights and understanding of client needs to offer strategic guidance and foster client confidence through thoughtful solution presentations and recommendations.

‍Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a consulting or technology firm.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce, and cloud technologies such as AWS.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire teams remotely across diverse geographic locations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of setting and achieving strategic objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering long-term relationships with clients and team members.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, IT, or a related field; an MBA or relevant graduate degree is a plus.
